Hi! I’m Helen Parker, founder of Little Henny, farmer’s wife, sometime-secondary teacher and mother to three adult kids! Little Henny is handmade in my home, on-farm at Tutye, Victoria. My goal in creating this little bush business in 2016, was to offer affordable, eco-conscious jewellery for women in my rural community. By combining recycled beads and textiles with new polymer clay, I find beauty in the forgotten and give it new life.
Little Henny is derived from my childhood nickname. My farm upbringing was characterised by making ‘stuff’, from collected trinkets, and whatever I could find in Mum’s scrap box. These days it’s called eco-chic! I rescue old necklaces destined for the rubbish bin, dismantle them and remodel the beads into new projects. While I also use many new components, nothing is wasted – every scrap of polymer clay is used in a future make. My packaging uses environmentally friendly paper gift bags, compostable mailers, plus reused berry containers, tissue paper or squares of laundered pre-loved fabric to protect your purchases through the post. You can continue to use the berry punnets to store your jewellery; they make perfect shock-absorbers for travel. As eco-stylist Hannah Klose would say, “We should all be thrifters.”
This online store is to share the best of my creative talents with you…where gorgeous things can be found and treasured.
I hope to give you as much happiness wearing my locally handcrafted pieces, as I have in crafting them.
Helen. x
